The commercialization of the new 60 GHz Wi-Fi Technology
by Samsung Electronics Co. is expected to be as early as next year!
In 2015, Samsung will incorporate this breakthrough
technology to their products, application of the 60 GHz Wi-Fi Technology to
Audio-Visual and Medical Devices and telecommunication equipment will put an
edge to Samsung’s products.
This new Wi-Fi Technology can increase data transmission
by five times the maximum speed rate possible with current devices, from 108MB
per second data transfer with today’s devices, next year’s devices are expected
to transfer data at a rate of 575MB per second.
According to the company, the
technology could enable the transfer of a 1GB movie between devices within an
impressive speed of less than three seconds. It also enables real time
streaming of HD videos, the actual speed which is 10 times faster than the
latest WiFi technology became a lot closer to the theoretical speed.
How this technology was made possible?
1. Getting rid of the Co-channel interface
- According to Wikipedia, Co-channel interface is
“crosstalk” from two different radio transmitters using the same frequency.
Crosstalk is the phenomenon in which a signal transmitted on one channel of a
transmission system creates an undesired effect in another channel. It usually
occurs when multiple WiFi Devices are feeding off the same internet stream.
2. Improved how smart devices communicate with WiFi routers
- Development of the Wide-Coverage Beam Antenna – Current
WiFi antennas on smart devices are susceptible to signal losses, with the
integration of the said component, the device would become less vulnerable to
signal loss.
